Locations: The Berryman Adventure will be headquartered at
Big Spring National Park, near Van Buren, MO. Once in Van Buren, go West on Hwy 60 over the Current River bridge and then go left, or South, on
Hwy 103. Follow Hwy 103 about 5 miles into the park. Look for the 'Race' signs to lead you to Race Headquarters. Race H.Q. will be located
at the Group Pavilion by the Spring. This is where teams will check-in for the race and receive more information about the race.
Dates and Times: The start time for both the 12-Hour and the 36-Hour courses will be
announced at the pre-race meeting on the evening of Friday, September 26th. Racer check-in will start at 3PM and will remain open until 7PM
on Friday. There is a good possibility that there will be a mandatory gear check of all the required gear for all racers when they check in.
The pre-race meeting will start at 7:30PM sharp on Friday evening, and this is when racers will receive the official start time of the race,
course details and maps, and all other information about the race.
36-Hour Course: The 36-Hour course will be very challenging, and the Berryman
Adventure is located in an area with very steep and rugged terrain. If you have any doubts about completing the long course, please consider
registering for the 12-Hour course. The 36-Hour course is once again going to be extremely challenging, and teams MUST train hard for this race and come
well prepared! With that said, all racers will enjoy racing in deep backwoods forests and will be on miles of great singletrack! You can
expect to paddle some of the best rivers in the country, which are nationally protected. Racers will also be rewarded with beautiful, scenic
views of deep valleys and spring-fed rivers from the tops of huge bluffs in the heart of the Ozark Mountains. Expected winning time will be
around 22 hours plus, and racers should come prepared to complete 50-70 miles of mountain biking (on gravel roads, jeep roads and single track),
20-40 miles of running, trekking and bushwhacking and 15-30 miles of paddling! The entire
course will be navigation based, and teams should be extremely proficient with using a map and compass in order to complete the course.
36-Hour Divisions:
4 Person (male, female, co-ed)
2 Person (male, female, co-ed)
* The Elite Division for the Berryman Adventure is the 4 Person Co-ed division. This is the only division that
can qualify for the USARA National Championships and also the only division to receive points towards the Checkpoint Tracker National Points
Series. Although the other divisions will receive prizes, the 4 Person Co-ed teams will get the first choice of prizes that are available.

biking (on gravel roads, jeep roads and single track), 7-15 miles of running, trekking and bushwhacking and 5-15 miles of paddling on some

in the Berryman Adventure 36-Hour will qualify for the USARA Adventure Racing National Championships. The first place co-ed team will receive
$400 towards their entry fee into the National Championships, paid for by Bonk Hard Racing. If the first place co-ed team has already

If one of the top three co-ed teams have already qualified for the National Championships race, the qualification will roll down to the
4th place team, and so on, until it reaches three teams that have not yet qualified for the race.
All racers at the Berryman Adventure will be required to purchase a one time USARA race license. USARA one time licenses are $8, and annual

Lodging: The Landing in
Van Buren is about a 4 minute drive from Race Headquarters, and is by-far the best place to stay in town! With great rooms that overlook the
Current River and The Blue Heron restaurant attached, this is the place to stay for the Berryman Adventure! The post-race awards ceremony will
also be held on the tiered decks of The Landing. Please call them and reserve your room today, because they won't last long!

There is plenty of camping available for all racers at Big Spring National Park. If you wish to camp at Big Spring Park, make sure you pay
the fee and get a campground on Friday when you arrive. THERE WILL BE NO CAMPING ALLOWED AT RACE HEADQUARTERS! Camping is only
permitted in the camping area of the Park. Some of the campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and some campsites can be
reserved at
Recreation.gov. Please make arrangements accordingly.
Big Spring Park also has a limited number of cabins available of different sizes. These cabins fill up very quickly, and if you are interested
in reserving one for the race, it is recommended that you reserve one as soon as possible. To reserve a cabin, or to learn more about the
cabins, please visit the Big Spring Lodge and Cabins website.
There are also quite a few motels in the Van Buren area. If you are interested in staying at one of the motels in Van Buren (about a
10 minute drive to Big Spring Park), please click here.
Support Crew: The 2008 Berryman Adventure 36-Hour WILL NOT require a
support crew! No support of any kind will be allowed for any team from non-racers. Friends and family (and all other spectators)
are more than welcome at the Berryman Adventure, and there will be ample opportunities for these people to watch your team during the race.
Volunteers: Come be a part of the Midwest's premeir adventure race! Volunteering is an excellent way
to get the feel and experience of an adventure race if you are unsure if you would like to participate. Also, friends and family of racers that are planning
on coming to the race are encouraged to volunteer. Adventure racing would not be possible without the help of volunteers, and the Berryman Adventure is currently
looking for outdoor-minded volunteers that are willing to help with the race! All volunteers that can help for the duration
of the race (Friday evening through Sunday) will receive a certificate for 50% off any Bonk Hard Racing event, free race shirts, pre-race pasta meal and food
after the race!
There will be a pre-race volunteer meeting after the racer's pre-race meeting, around 9PM. If you would like to be a volunteer
at the Berryman Adventure, please contact the race staff. Thanks!
